“We played hooky on Wednesday, piling into a silver van shaped as much as possible like a mini-monorail. We were five women of different ages, occupations and circumstances, taking our dreams for a ride along the proposed Green Line route.
No apologies. No men. Just a map of the route and time to pull over at each suggested station stop to imagine what we’d do if Seattle ever stops talking, carping and voting and actually builds the thing.”

Hey Sandi, fun to see you on the blog, wasn’t there some funny story about Kristina and lipstick.

Yes, as a matter of fact…
I think there were a few wrong turns along the way. But, we had a lot of fun that day and Susan was a big fan.
This tour was part of the Rise Above It All/Monorail Yes campaign (it was right before the vote). Kristina was designated as tour guide and driver because she was most familiar with the route. But, she was wearing lipstick (!) and apparently she can’t wear lipstick and drive at the same time – at least, that’s what she claimed at the time.
Sure is sad to drive the route today, which I drive on a regular basis. Drove through 15th and Market the other day and saw all of those new condos that were built around the Denny’s monorail station. I remember that they had been using the monorail station as one of their selling points in their marketing materials. Now the Denny’s site it clear and the condos are built.
